Admissions
St. Peter Catholic
School
admits students of any race, color, national, and ethnic
origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and
activities generally accorded or made available
to students at this school. The school does not discriminate
on the basis of race, color, national, and ethnic origin in
the administration of its educational
policies, admissions policies, scholarship, and loan
programs, and athletic or other school administered
programs. Additionally,
in compliance with Title IX of the Civil Rights Act of 1964,
no person in the school shall, on the basis of sex, be
excluded from participation in, or be
denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination
under any educational program or activity except permitted
under said Title IX.
St. Peter
Catholic School, as a ministry of St. Peter Parish, is grounded in
the spiritual and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
For this reason, St. Peter’s Admission Policy
gives priority to families who are registered in their
church parish, actively practicing their faith, and
contributing financially to the support of their parish
(St. Peter Parish - $400.00 per
year prior to December 1).
The order of
acceptance, depending on space available, is as
follows:
1. Children
presently enrolled in St. Peter School,
2. Siblings of
children presently enrolled in St. Peter School,
3. Siblings of
children who have already completed St. Peter School,
4. Catholic
children of families who are registered, active, and
supporting members of St. Peter Parish,
5. Catholic
children of families who are registered, active, and
supporting members of other Catholic parishes which have no
parish school,
6. Catholic
children of families who are registered, active, and
supporting members of other Catholic parishes which have a
parish school,
7. Catholic
children of other Catholic families,
8. Non-Catholic
children.
St. Peter
Catholic School is racially and ethnically
non-discriminatory in its admission policy. A waiting list
will be maintained throughout the year for the purpose
of filling any vacancy that
occurs during the year, vacancies to be filled in the order
of acceptance above.
Admission
Requirements
A.
Pre-Kindergarten: a child must be four (4) years of age
prior to October 1st of the current school year.
B. Kindergarten:
a child must be five (5) years of age prior to October 1st
of the current school year.
C. First Grade:
a child must be six (6) years of age prior to October 1st of
the current school year.
D. All new
students to St. Peter School must present copies of
Baptismal certificates (for Catholics), birth certificates,
current report card, health
records, social
security number, and prior school transcripts when filing an
application for admission.
E. Custody
papers should be presented, if applicable.
F. The school
reserves the right to screen applicant’s records prior to
acceptance. Any student who is admitted to St. Peter is
accepted conditionally.
The academic and
behavioral responses of the student will be reviewed
quarterly. Any student failing to meet the academic or
behavioral standards of St. Peter may
be asked to leave.
Transfer
Our school office should be contacted in advance of a child
transferring to another school. The new school will request
cumulativerecords. Report Cards will not be issued and
transcripts will not be forwarded to another school unless
all money owed the school is paid in full. Transcripts are
not given to parents.
Class Size - St.
Peter Catholic School adheres to Louisiana State guidelines for
non-public school. The principal, pastor, and school board
determine class size
annually.
Registration
- Registration for the next school year will take place
usually during January or February.

Application for new students will take place during February

School Hours
St. Peter School
begins at 7:55 a.m. daily. Dismissal is at 2:45 p.m. Bus
service is available
through the St. Tammany Parish Public School Transportation
System.
BEFORE CARE
St. Peter School offers Before School Care from 6:50 a.m.
until 7:30 a.m. The daily charge
is $1.00.
AFTER CARE
After Care is available to all students from
pre-kindergarten through seventh grade. Children
are supervised by a caring, responsible staff. Time is
allotted for homework, snacks,
and free play activities. The hours are from dismissal until
6:00 p.m. Fees are$6.00 daily per child.
